Yesterday got a little away from me and I just didn’t have time to write up anything. It wasn’t because I was all of a sudden swamped with customers. That would be nice and totally unexpected. No, I only had 2 small sales yesterday. I’m actually working upon some major changes to the store, and my life. I am not ready to tell all but should be able to in a few weeks.

The best part of my day was book club. It only happens once a month but it is a lovely group of women and we have a good time discussing the books we read and many other things. We’ve been meeting for about a year and are starting to develop friendships. It’s not always easy to make friends at any stage of life so to meet people with commonalities is very refreshing. We’re also open to reading a wide variety of books which then helps each of us branch out from our usual genres. Always good to expand our minds and learn new things.

One thing I have never talked much about is my love for food, cooking, and baking. Other than sewing, it’s one of my main hobbies. I bake my own bread and make a lot of things from scratch. I used to bring in baked goods when I worked in an office and it always helped me when I needed help from others. It’s amazing what feeding people can do for you. Anyway, I have been bringing the treats to book club and decided to make a Bailey’s Trifle. Of course, I had to make my own Bailey’s ‘cause, why not? It was a lovely decant dessert of cake, Bailey’s cream cheese, chocolate pudding, and homemade whipped cream all topped with mini chocolate chips and drizzled with more Bailey’s. Yes, it was decadent. Yes, I own a health food store. You can have treats. It’s all about balance. For dinner we had an eggplant lasagna with eggplant from my husband’s garden and it’s not like I make desserts like that all the time. It was just a fun way to celebrate our getting together.

When you really stop to think about, celebrations exist around the foods we eat. I do not know of a single major celebration/holiday that is not complimented by food. It’s what brings us together. It creates a shared experience.

So, this weekend, make some time, share some experiences, eat some food, make some memories.

Until Next Time,

            Have a Healthy Day
