Friday-A Day to Share
Susan CwikShare
A Friday with a different start to the day. For anyone who has been following my story, I have been dealing with reflux for more years than I can remember. A few years back, medication no longer helped so I went to a doctor. This silly man wanted to put me on an anti-depressant. I sighed, raged, and waited for another opportunity to talk to someone else. We move and I go see another doctor who just wanted to start over and make me spend all kinds of money for tests I had already gone through. Another sigh. Next! Finally found someone who was willing to listen and it was determined that I severe acid reflux. Duh! I could of told them that without all the testing.
Now, as I have a hiatal hernia, the next step is for surgery to fix that. I go see a surgeon. He was a piece of work. He was condescending and I felt like I was nothing more than a billable commodity. Not a person, just a way to increase the numbers on his ledger. Next! Have you noticed a pattern here where I don’t put up with crap from doctors? This morning I went to go meet with surgeon #2. What a world of difference. Someone who wants to listen, explains, and understands. What is this nonsense? Is this what health care is supposed to look like? The sarcasm is really thick right now.
Needless to say, I am on the journey of fixing my hernia so as to no longer have 24/7 acid reflux, only normal people heartburn. This will be a very happy day. It’s always important to be your own advocate when dealing with our for-profit medical system. It’s the only way to get done what you need to get done.
As for the store, it’s pretty quiet again. Only 1 customer so far for the entire day. She was really nice and said she’ll be back, but, at this rate, there won’t be anything to come back to, LOL. The social media has been done for the day, bills have been paid, and I just have my new little venture to start.
I am a seamstress who upcycles. I mean, all clothing is just fabric and can re-used to make new clothing. I have quite a few pieces that are cute, just not on me or my daughter so I have brought them to the store to see if I can sell them. They are custom made, upcycled garments at a reasonable price. What’s not to like and they still fit into our mission. I just keep trying different things to attract attention. Something is going to eventually help draw people in and make my business grow.
That’s my Friday. Take away, stand up for yourself and keep trying new things. You never know what will happen next.
Until next time,
               Have a Healthy Day!!
