Rain and Sea Moss

Susan Cwik

Another sunny day, yet another rainy day. That is the weather in Savannah in the summer, 90’s with a chance of rain each and every day. The only thing that might change is the percentage chance of rain. Just know that it will rain and it will probably be a deluge lasting about 10-30 minutes. Not long but long enough to get you soaked if you are outside and can’t find cover. Give it a bit and the sun will come right back out. There’s none of this, “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow,” nonsense. It just takes a few minutes.

Otherwise, it’s just another Tuesday (my Monday) and I’m getting things done and people have actually come in. Such a nice thing to have happen each and every day. If I could just figure out the secret to getting lots of people in and everything would be just fine and dandy.

Switching gears….

Sea Moss – have you heard of it? Do you know what it is? Why you should take it? Why you should not take it?

Sea Moss is a type of seaweed that has multiple purposes. It contains carrageenan which is a natural thickener you might find in food products and natural toothpaste. It has been used for this purpose for many, many years. It has come to light that it also contains over 90 minerals that may benefit the body. It may help with the thyroid, immunity, joint health, and digestion. For most people, it's’probably just fine to consume. For anyone with thyroid issues and is on thyroid medication, I, personally, would stay away from it. It does contain iodine but the quantities are variable from batch to batch and when you get too much iodine you could develop hyperthyroidism. This is not fun as you may get tremors, heart palpitations, nervousness, sleeplessness, and anxiety. I accidentally did this to myself from taking kelp so I do not recommend. You can get in the gel, take as a capsule, or in a powder where you can create a gel. The possibilities are endless.

So, now you know something about sea moss and can call it a day. We don’t want to overstress ourselves with knowledge. That would be ridiculous. We all need to go home and take it easy, do something for ourselves, spend time with family, and/or do what makes you happy. I’ll be starting a new sewing project for myself. I think I’ll do a dress first and then the new bathrobe. That sounds like a good plan. Anyway….

            Until next time,

                        Have a Healthy Day
