Saturday Story Time-Ethics
Share
One more day to this week and today is a little better. So far I’ve had 3 people in and I’ve only been open for just over an hour. Progress? Definitely makes me hopeful. Anyway, it’s Saturday and that means it’s story time!
What I will be telling you today has happened sooooo many times over the years and I had a phone call earlier in the week that made me remember all the rest. The phone call went something like:
Customer: “Do you carry detoxes?”
Me: “Yes, what might you be looking for?”
Customer: “I need a detox for hair and body,” she gets really quiet, “for ecstasy.”
Me: “Sorry, we do not have anything for that.”
Many people who use drugs think that they can go to a health food store and get a detox to pass their drug test. Now, there are some unscrupulous people out there who will sell you something and goldenseal has anecdotal evidence to do just that. However, in my opinion, if you need to pass a drug test, you should not use drugs. I personally do not want to be responsible for someone passing a drug test to only go back to using drugs while on the job. That just doesn’t sound like a safe, or moral, thing to do.
Now, I’m not putting marijuana/CBD in that grouping as that is a different ball of wax with the changes in the laws. If you have a prescription for medical marijuana or use CBD, I always suggest talking with the HR department so they know. The laws around that are constantly changing. As with anything else, I am just not comfortable with the possibility of contributing to the harm of others, so I just don’t have drug detoxes.
By the way, I just got a phone call and he kept calling me “Queen” so now I am royalty.
For those that have now read this you now know my moral code. Yes, I will always want to make a sale, and money, but never when it goes against my ethics. That is who I am and I do not apologize for it. I also don’t believe in wasting money, whether it is mine or someone else’s. I think that just makes me more trustworthy as I’m looking out for your best interests.
Anyway, that’s my story and I need to keep moving to get more stuff done before heading home and getting stuff done there.
Until next time,
Have a Healthy Day
