Who is the Crazy Retail Lady?

Susan Cwik

The Crazy Retail Lady, that’s who I am. Why do you think I chose that as a title for my blog series? Is it because I’ve been in retail too long and customers have made me go loopy? Am I just loopy naturally? Is it because I dance around my store when no one is here? Or, is it because I might be a little crazy to pick up my store that was in its original location for almost 30 years to move it over 1000 miles away, and at age 58, start over? Mostly the last reason, but go ahead and throw in some of the rest for grins and giggles.

“If you are not doing what you love, you are wasting your time.”

I love what I do. I love helping people and making them smile. If I wasn’t able to help people, I would just not be happy and, if you’ve been reading along, you know that my happiness is tied to making other people happy. So, I just keep plugging along like the little train that could. Just chuggin’ up the hill one track at a time. Eventually I will reach the top of the hill and see the beautiful vista laid out before me. Luckily, I am seeing some improvement in my situation and the sewing is definitely helping.

Speaking of sewing, I just got 5 Dickie shirts to turn into children’s clothing items. I’m so excited to get started so the airbrush lady has actual mock ups and we can start taking orders. This could be a very good thing for me. They don’t take me long to make, I can make a nice little profit, and all of it is free money for the store. Plus, people will get a quality product ‘cause I don’t make anything that’s not nice. I’ll have to remember to post pictures once I am done so you know what I am talking about.

“Sew” I get to do two things that I love to do. Helping people improve their health and create clothing. Who knew this is where life would take me. We’ve always told our children to take advantage of opportunities and this is all one big opportunity for me to do what I love to do. So, I don’t think that I’m wasting my time at all.

I hope all of you are also doing what you love and, if not, can try and figure out how to do what you love. Sometimes it takes a really big risk but it can pay off in the long run. So get out there, look for opportunities, and make yourself happy doing what you love to do.

            Until next time,

                        Have a Healthy Day
